Andrea Rossi’s E-cat: The Year After Its Introduction

The year of 2011 was definitely a rollercoaster ride for Andrea Rossi and his breakthrough technology called energy catalyzer or simply e-cat. Rossi e-cat was introduced in January last year shaking the scientific and academic world with its claim that it is a working cold fusion device. The emergence became very controversial but the Italian inventor proved to them that he has indeed developed a working cold fusion or LENR technology that can generate large amounts of heat without destroying the environment. 2011 also covered the testing and the beginning of the commercialization of Rossi’s e-cat. Today, Rossi’s USbased company Leonardo Corporation is in thick of many things surrounding the e-cat industry that Rossi wants to complete. Building an e-cat industry has always been a dream of the man behind the first commercially successful LENR in the 21st century.

When the world welcomed 2012, many people from the scientific and academic community slowly embraced the nickel-hydrogen cold fusion technology and started to believe that Rossi’s e-cat for household use can be a possible source of commercial cold fusion device that could save the world from energy problems and environmental pollution. Also, Rossi revealed the mass production of one million home-based e-cat units which will be completed before 2012 ends. He once said that production will begin in Autumn and sales will start in Winter this year. But changes were made months after due to the pending approval of the device’s safety certification. Rossi revealed that mass production of a million e-cat will be made possible within 16 months.

Last year provided clear evidence that we live in a time and age that is very interesting and exciting. Technological breakthroughs show that we can now overcome the many challenges that human civilization continues to face. A number of game-changing technologies were invented this year but some really stood out more than others. Rossi’s e-cat is a very good example of a groundbreaking technology that was presented last year. It cannot be denied that the technology alone is revolutionary. Its characteristics are indeed very phenomenal despite its lack of scientific evidence that can support its claims. Rossi’s cold fusion technology does not use radioactive materials, and thus no radioactive waste is produced. Interestingly, the heat can be used directly. Following different number of ways, it can also be converted into electricity.

The benefits of the e-cat technology are unlimited. The best thing about this device is the fact that it generates heat without environment pollution because it consumes only tiny amounts of cheap fuel (nickel powder and hydrogen gas), and has a huge power density. In one test, for instance, a reactor core with a volume of one liter is capable to produce a constant 130 kilowatts for a certain amount of time. In his official blog called The Journal of Nuclear Physics, Rossi averred that one previous model of E-Cat could produce a safe maximum output of 10 kilowatts from a reactor core only fifty centimeters in volume. For a premature technology like Rossi’s e-cat, these positive results are very amazing. Perhaps, this is the reason why many people are shocked by this technology. There is no doubt that Rossi’s e-cat will definitely continue to rock the scientific and academic community especially now that it is already the commercialization stage. The technology’s market opportunities are now being tested by Rossi and his team. In fact, they made a survey once in order to determine the chance of the device in commercial success and the response was positive.

In 1989, a cold fusion experiment of Dr. Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons failed to impress the scientific and academic world. This led to anti-cold fusion sentiment that Rossi and his cold fusion makes the technology worthy to be called the “holy grail” of what cold fusion researchers have been looking ever since Fleischmann and Pons disclosed their discovery worldwide. It is important to give due credit to the two researchers who were brave enough to continue the quest to find a source of new energy. Without them, there will be no cold fusion or LENR research. Of course, Fleischmann-Pons experiment is far less developed compared to Rossi’s e-cat.

For more than twenty years now, there have been many cold fusion or LENR systems experimented with and record shows that there have been thousands of successful tests. However, none of these other systems come close to having all the amazing characteristics of Rossi e-cat in which a very small reactor core can produce vast quantities of heat. It is also cheap because it only uses light hydrogen instead of heavy hydrogen. There have been a number of cold fusion articles that discuss the various benefits of the e-cat technology following the success of its test inItalylast October 28. It is clear that Rossi’s e-cat is not only powerful but also very economical.
